Lessinia Stone Splitting by Forklift

[^The Unbroken Block^]

[^Breaking the Block^]

[^Removing Separate Layers^]

A series of Photos that shows the natural layered nature of the Lessinia Stone. The stone is easily broken into its natural layers (it has a compacted layer of soil between each layer). These photos show how the stone factory breaks the layered block into the striated stone layers. After they are split they are typically cut into 1m x 1.5 or 1m x .5m slabs. The thickness of the slab is totally dependent on which layer of strata, as each strata layer has a somewhat standard thickness.
